Student Speaks Out About Bride Stealing

Unfortunately many Kyrgyz girls are "stolen" as brides in the smaller villages. Sometimes these girls know the boys and sometimes not.

This practice speaks of a lack of respect for women as decision makers. Unfortunately, however, as the Frontline piece (below) shows, women continue to help perpetuate this practice.
