Student Speaks Out About Bride Stealing

Unfortunately many Kyrgyz girls are "stolen" as brides in the smaller villages. Sometimes these girls know the boys and sometimes not.

This practice speaks of a lack of respect for women as decision makers. Unfortunately, however, as the Frontline piece (below) shows, women continue to help perpetuate this practice.

PBS Frontline did a great piece on this that I recommend:

Hear from a student first hand her view of this practice.

Making Kymys, images of a yurt

In the summer we only spend a day or so visiting the traditional yurt, but it's a memorable experience. Here the process is described and you get a good look at the inside of a yurt.

KG Dreams

I am creating this blog so that we can quickly post some photos of KG so that others can learn about this beautiful place, its people and culture, and why we love it so much!
